REVIEW – Wood Girl Gone Bad by Mae Harden

BLURB

Maggie

I was born with both feet firmly centered on The Nice List and never strayed an inch. Mostly because there was never anything I wanted badly enough. But oh, holy night, do I want Gabe Costa.

Growing up the only deaf kid in Sugar Creek was isolating enough, but I was painfully shy on top of it, so I got really comfortable being alone. Between my personal wood shop in town and my little apartment above, I was content. The operative word here is ‘was’. I started to feel like something was missing, but I couldn’t put my finger on it until I laid eyes on the Italian candle maker at the Sugar Creek Christmas Market.

There’s just one problem. If he so much as glances in my direction, I freeze in place as firmly as a kid licking a metal pole in the dead of winter. He tried to talk to me last year, and I was about as coherent as one of Aunt Muriel’s sugar plums. I couldn’t even get a ‘hi’ or a ‘merry Christmas’ past my lips.
But this year is going to be different. I’m claiming my spot on the Naughty List, and I’m starting with him.

Gabe

Last Christmas, I struck out. No… it was worst than that. I met the most beautiful woman I’d ever laid eyes on and then I shoved my foot in my mouth and destroyed half of her work. Worst first impression ever, but I can’t let that stop me.. Not when I want something as badly as I want Maggie Richards.

I put my year to good use and rolled into Sugar Creek with a plan. It was a solid plan, at least I thought it was, but it all burst into flames the second A plan that burst into flames the second Maggie opened her lips and casually uttered the eight little words that almost stopped my heart.

“Want to help me join the naughty list?”

Jingle. My. Bells.

Maggie has her own plan. One she wants to pack away with the mistletoe and holly as soon as Christmas is over. But I’m not going anywhere. I’ve waited my whole life for her, and I’d sooner suck an elf ear than walk away now. The only thing I can do is convince her that this one Christmas isn’t enough…

The only thing I want right now, Maggie, is to get my face between those pretty legs of yours and take care of you like I promised I would.

ARC REVIEW

This is like a spicy Hallmark movie and I was loving every single second of it!

The moment Gabe first sees Maggie he is drawn to her. However, things didn’t go how he had planned. This does make him determined to have a better meeting the second time around.

I love Gabe. I love that he took the time to learn ASL so he could communicate with Maggie the next time he saw her. However, a year has passed and things had changed. Maggie has always been the good girl and she is ready to change that, so why not have a little holiday fun with the gorgeous candle maker?

These two had tons of chemistry and were bringing the spice! I couldn’t get enough of them. Though, with the fact that Gabe is a candle maker, I do wish that there was some wax play to just turn things up a little more.

If you’re looking for a spicy, small town, holiday romance this is one to check out.
