REVIEW – Forbidden Hearts by Corinne Michaels

BLURB

First rule of being a nanny? Don’t fall for the single dad, even if he is smoking hot.

But that’s exactly what happens when grumpy small-town sheriff Asher Whitlock reluctantly hires me to take care of his daughter for the summer. Neither of us is thrilled with the arrangement, but he’s desperate for help, and I need the money for grad school this fall.

All we need to do is keep our distance and remain professional . . . turns out, that’s easier said than done.

Instead of focusing on my future, all I see is the strong jawline, crystal-blue eyes, and rock hard body right in front of me. We try to resist each other, but we end up crossing every line until I’m in his bed.

I tell myself it’s just this once.
Okay, twice.
All right, every night.

But it’s got to end–he’s fourteen years older than me, with a kid and a stressful job. Have I mentioned my dad is his boss? Then there’s the past I’m trying to forget. Secrets aren’t easy to keep and mine are getting too big to hide.

Walking away is never simple but when I do, I can’t look back.

Even if it means leaving behind the man I was never meant to love.

“You are going to wreck my world, and I’m going to let you.”

ARC REVIEW

I DEVOURED this book. The moment I started I knew I wasn’t going to be able to put it down. Asher and his grumpiness, but the marshmallow center hidden underneath stole my heart. Add in his daughter, Olivia and then Phoebe and her sunshine. It is the perfect combination.

Asher is the oldest of the Whitlock’s, the head of the SWAT team in Sugarloaf, a single dad, and the man his insanely protective of those he cares about most. Phoebe is in grad school, but home early for the year. She is trying to figure out what her next steps are going to be when her dad volunteers her to be the nanny for Asher and his daughter Olivia. Something Asher and Phoebe both aren’t excited about, but considering Phoebe knows ASL and there is no one else, Asher doesn’t have much of a choice.

The chemistry between Asher and Phoebe is instant. These two are drawn to each other and they both try to fight it for so long, but the chemistry is undeniable they can only avoid it for so long before lines get crossed. I love how Asher instantly became protective over Phoebe, even if he didn’t want to like her. She fit well in his life and it helped that his daughter absolutely adores Phoebe, too.

I loved getting to meet the rest of the Whitlock family and I am looking forward to return to Sugarloaf for their stories!

If you’re looking for a small town, age gap, single dad, nanny, forbidden, grumpy/sunshine romance check this one out.
