REVIEW: CHANGEUP by NICOLE RODRIGUES

Mr. Smooth Devin Gavinwood, apparently that’s me. I’m looking for Mrs. Right but just keep finding Mrs. Right Now. Long legged bombshells that just want my money. I see right through their game thanks to my fathers lessons, the infamous Gabriel Gavinwood. I want a love like him and my mama have and I’m close to giving up until I meet her. Sassy Miss Normani Jameson, the new girl at Double Play Physical Therapy. When she rips me a new one right in the middle of the office, I’m shocked into infatuation. She wrecks every notion I have about seducing a woman and I want to make her mine.

When Normani’s past comes barreling back into her life, everything I’ve ever known is threatened and my positive, cheerful self falls to the darkness. My cursed Gavinwood genes take over and I may cause damage I can never undo. Is Normani the only one that can pull me towards the light?

—-

I’m broken, damaged beyond belief and I’ve had to fight for my life more than once. My upbringing isn’t my fault, but it’s the reason I’m laying low until someone finds me, Savannah Turner. My need to prove to myself that I am stronger than my demons and can live a normal life is what drives me to work for DP Physical Therapy. That is until pretty boy Devin Gavinwood walks into the office thinking he owns the place and has a right to ogle me. Sorry Gavinwood, not this girl. Except when he turns the tables on me and is immune to my defenses, it stirs a need inside me. A need to smack that smirk off his face, or maybe kiss it. My desire to connect with someone, feel a mans touch the way I should feel it, is suffocating me.

Right when I’m starting to accept opening up to someone, my past derails us and I have no choice but to make things right with the man I nearly destroyed. Can we help each other heal, or are we just going to get sucked into the darkness together?

Remember what I said, Normani, I don’t give up on things I want, and I want you. Not just in my bed, not just by my side at events, I want all of you,the broken and the beautiful. the ends and the resilience. All. Of. You.

MY REVIEW

I swear this series just gets better and better which each book that comes out. If you haven’t read this series yet you are MISSING OUT!

We’ve met smooth talking Devin Gavinwood and we’ve got a little glimpse into Normani, but their story is beautifully heartbreaking. This story had me ugly crying, it broke my heart, but it also mended my heart.

There is an instant connection between Devin and Normani. Of course, Mani doesn’t want anything to do with Devin, but the man is persistent and doesn’t give up on what he wants. He is living his dream playing the major leagues, having a great season and has the love of his family. Mani is working at Double Play, has quickly become best friends with Bella and Lacey and has a pseudo family in the Gavinwood/Turner gang, but there is still so much of her past they don’t know and can never know. Of course, the past doesn’t always stay hidden. Devin will do anything in his power to protect Normani and she will do everything in her power to protect Devin from her past.

The chemistry between Devin and Normani was HOT and EXPLOSIVE. The Gavinwood temper is definitely present in Devin and shows several times, but those men will protect those they love no matter what. This story was full of drama and secrets, more so than the others in my opinion. The girls though, I want to hang out with Bella, Lacey and Mani one day. They’d be a blast to have a girls night with! Love the sass and the crazy!

Make sure you have your tissues ready when you sit down to read this because they will needed, maybe even a drink or twenty. And the ENDING!?!?! Seriously, waiting for book 5 is going to be a long one.
