REVIEW – Butcher & Blackbird by Brynne Weaver

BLURB

A friends-to-lovers dark romantic comedy full of murder, chaos, and spice, unlike anything you’ve read before.

Every serial killer needs a friend.
Every game must have a winner.

When a chance encounter sparks an unlikely bond between rival murderers Sloane and Rowan, the two find something elusive—the friendship of a like-minded, pitch-black soul. From small town West Virginia to upscale California, from downtown Boston to rural Texas, the two hunters collide in an annual game of blood and suffering, one that pits them against the most dangerous monsters in the country. But as their friendship develops into something more, the restless ghosts left in their wake are only a few steps behind, ready to claim more than just their newfound love. Can Rowan and Sloane dig themselves out of a game of graves? Or have they finally met their match?

Butcher & Blackbird is the first book in the Ruinous Love Dark Romance trilogy of interconnected stand-alone dark romantic comedies. This dual POV novel ends on a HEA.

“We’re both monsters, after all. Different monsters, thrust together in the cage I created.”

REVIEW

This book is everything I love all wrapped up in a beautiful, twisted package and I hate how long it took me to hear about it!

Sloane is just a BA and a strong heroine. Honestly, the things she does terrify me but I also want to be her best friend. Rowan is smitten he see’s Sloane and well he is also kind of BA. Two people who form a rather unlikely friendship over a shared interest and now they started an annual competition over it with a best of five.

Sloane and Rowan’s story spans years and I love how over time they communicate more and more and that they end up seeing each other more than just during their annual game. They formed an easy friendship that easily shifted into something more. They have loads of chemistry and despite Rowan being an uninstaller, he does some pretty sweet things when it comes to Sloane.

I can’t wait for Leather & Lark, because I am definitely hooked on this trilogy and all these characters.

If dark, friends to lovers, rom coms about two serial uninstallers is your thing then this book is definitely for you.
