REIVEW – My Darling Bride by Ilsa Madden-Mills

BLURB

In a sizzling romance that sparkles with wit and depth, two wounded souls meet by chance in the desert and agree to get married, and their lives will never be the same.

On a normal day, Emmaline Darling isn’t a car thief. She’s just a simple girl who runs a bookstore and adores cats. But when she’s stranded in the desert and needs to get away from her dangerous ex-boyfriend, she picks her only option: swiping the keys to a famous football player’s Lamborghini and speeding away.

Football star Graham Harlan is in chaos. First he took a hit on the field that left him with a near-death experience, and now he’s promised his brother he’ll get married to secure the family inheritance. Trouble is he isn’t even seeing anyone.

Then a mystery woman steals his car. With his usual stubbornness, he tracks her all the way to Manhattan and gives her an ultimatum: marry me or I’ll press charges.

Her choice is obvious, only neither of them expect the sparks that ignite between them.

As the end of their arrangement looms, will Graham take a chance on love or let his darling walk away forever?

ARC REIVEW

I absolutely adored this story from the very start. Emmy and Graham met in a rather unconventional and interesting way. This initial event leads to the whole marriage of convenience aspect of this story.

I loved Emmy. She’s full of sunshine, despite things that have happened in her life. She works hard, she has a great relationship with her siblings and her niece and I loved seeing them all together. Graham, he is a grump at times but he has a good relationship with his brother Brody and he would do anything for him. He also lives and breathes football, even if one day it could lead to serious harm to his life. Graham and Emmy have a connection that neither of them truly understand in the beginning because of how strong it is, but as time goes you can’t help but root for them.

There was a lot of unexpected emotional moments in this book and I loved it gave both these characters a lot of depth. Of course, these are also topics that are heavy and may be difficult to read at times.

I hope this isn’t the last we will see of these characters because I adored the secondary characters and hope some of them get their own happily ever afters.

If you’re looking a grumpy/sunshine, marriage of  convenience,  sports romance check this one out.
