REVIEW: Duke: Faking the Play by Kayley Loring and Connor Crais

BLURB

#4 Callum Duquette. Placekicker for the Boston Tomcats. Former underwear model. NICKNAME: Duke.

I thought the most annoying thing about being a single dad was that my friends were always trying to find me a date. Until a sassy British ray of sunshine bumps into me at a bookstore. One accidental butt grab, a viral photo, and a lot of misunderstandings later, I find myself in a fake relationship with a movie star.

Now I’ve got my friends off my back, but the cheeky Brit has complicated my life even more.

She calls me the Duke of Grumpville.
I call her movies the end of civilization as we know it.

She calls my job “the wrong kind of football.”
I call her the one thing on Earth that can make me lose focus and control.

It’s getting harder to pretend I still want this to end after my team’s game in London.

I thought we were only faking it.
But getting to know the real Millie Darden changed everything.

I’d fallen under her spell when I’d tried to weave my own.

ARC REVIEW

A bookstore run in, a man who plays the wrong kind of football, and a British actress leads to a very fake relationship that takes the internet by storm.

Duke is a grump. His life is football and his daughter, Chloe. He isn’t a fan of being in the spotlight and much prefers to stay in the shadows and really keep to himself. Millie is an actress, she is full of life and bubbly. These two are opposites, yet they have a connection and they have some insane chemistry. I love what they bring out in each other.

Naturally their fake relationship came with a plan. Spend time together while Millie is in Boston and break up with Duke is in London for a football game. BUT nothing ever goes according to plan and there are turns that cause things to change between these two and slightly derail their plan.

I loved the text exchanges between Duke and the rest of the Tomcats and Millie and her family. Plus, Duke and his daughter, Millie and Duke, Millie and Chloe. I was living for all the texts.

If you’re looking for a fake dating, single dad, grumpy/sunshine, sports, rom com check this one out.
