REVIEW : Like Father Like Son by Leigh Lennon

Like Father Like Son
I said good-bye to my son. But he had one final request—a letter I’ll never forget.

Dear Dad,
If you’re reading this, it means I’m gone. I had one dream, growing old with Holland. Death won’t stop me from providing for my wife. And because you’re the best man I know, what I’m about to ask—my last request—I know you’ll do. Please take care of Holland. Take her back to California with you. It’s a lot—I know. But, I’m placing my most precious possession in your hands.
Love,
Scott

But the thoughts swirling through my mind are certainly not what my late son had in mind. How do I resist this woman in front of me?
After all, you can’t choose love, it chooses you.

I sometimes think Scott will return just to kick my ass. But the heart doesn’t choose who it loves.

MY REVIEW

This is the first book I’ve read from Leigh Lennon and I was completely intrigued about this book from reading the blurb. Going into the book I had an idea in my mind where this was going, but this story was nothing like I expected it to be.

Holland just lost her husband. She is losing her home. Her family is far from supportive. Her deceased husband knew this, so he asked the only man he would trust with the one person he loved more than anything, his father. Maguire didn’t get a ton of time with his son, but he cherished his time with him and would do anything for him, including honoring his son’s dying wish.

This is a SLOW SLOW SLOW burn. There is no denying the chemistry between Holland and Maguire, but they both know it isn’t right. She just recently lost her husband and him his son. They learn on each other for love and support and to just cope with the changes and the loss.

This story was emotional rollercoaster full of love, loss and getting a second chance.

Like Father Like Son is the first book in a duet and it ends on a MASSIVE CLIFFHANGER! I need book two ASAP!!!!!!
