REVIEW : A Lie for A Lie by Helena Hunting

blurb

Sometimes I need an escape from the demands, the puck bunnies, and the notoriety that come with being an NHL team captain. I just want to be a normal guy for a few weeks. So when I leave Chicago for some peace and quiet, the last thing I expect is for a gorgeous woman to literally fall into my lap on a flight to Alaska. Even better, she has absolutely no idea who I am.

Lainey is the perfect escape from my life. My plan for seclusion becomes a monthlong sex fest punctuated with domestic bliss. But it ends just as abruptly as it began. When I’m called away on a family emergency, I realize too late that I have no way to contact Lainey.

A year later, a chance encounter throws Lainey and me together again. But I still have a lie hanging over my head, and Lainey’s keeping secrets of her own. With more than lust at stake, the truth may be our game changer.

“To chance meetings.”
“To new adventures and great company to share them with.”

my review

I am still trying to find the right words to say after finishing this book. This book was emotional, beautiful, hilarious and so much more. Trust me, this is just one you’ll want to read for yourself because Helena does not disappoint with Rook and Lainey’s story.

Rook aka RJ met Lainey on a flight to Alaska. Those few weeks they spent together were perfect, they had so much chemistry but when things came up unexpectedly they lost touch. A year later fate seemed to have something else in mind when it brought them back together, but only this time there is a lot more at stake with their relationship.

I loved Lainey. She was easy to connect to. She had anxiety, overprotective parents and honestly, I really just love a nerdy heroine. She just felt so normal and down to earth. I want to be her best friend. Rook, I loved him. He loves his family and his team. I love that he wasn’t just a playboy, the man had layers.

A Lie for A Lie was perfect. I loved the story, the twists and turns, the romance, the banter and of course, there were a few Violetisms. Rook and Lainey had so much chemistry and there was no lack of steamy, especially in Alaska. I loved that this story not only made me laugh, but it also was emotional.

This book is EVERYTHING. Seriously, even if you haven’t read the Pucked Series you can still very much enjoy this and I cant wait for the rest of this series.
