Miller

They called me the pretty boy on and off the ice. Hockey’s most eligible bachelor.

When my teammate asked me to donate one date to his charity, I figured why not. Worst case, I’d spend the night with a fan. Best-case scenario, she would be hot. What I wasn’t expecting was for my dream girl to be the highest bidder.

For years, she brushed me off, and now, I finally had a chance to take her out and show her who I really was.

With only one shot at this, I really hoped I didn’t mess it up.

Layla

At the top of my career, I was riding the wave of my sports talk show having the best rating on the radio.

I also made it a rule to never date any sports players.

It was my one rule, and I was sticking to it until I bid on the only man who gets under my skin.

All it takes is one touch, one night, one kiss, and only one chance.

For the past four maybe even five years, I have tried and failed miserably to get her to date me. But I was never a quitter, so I’m not going to start now.

Layla is the host of a hockey radio show so she is familiar with the local team and it’s players, however, there is one man that she can’t stand and that is Miller.

I love the banter between Miller and Layla. Miller is definitely flirty with her and has no issues with showing how interested he is to wanting to take her out on a date. Layla just ignores all of Miller’s advances at this point. Dating a professional athlete is not high on her list. However, after WAY too much champagne and a bachelor auction Miller finally gets his dream….or so he thinks.

I LOVED Layla’s grandma. She was cracking me up. She had no problem with being flirty with Miller and I was dying the entire time. I loved the relationship Layla had with Grandma Nancy, though she was her parent growing up, there is such a fun and friendly vibe between them.

The chemistry between Layla and Miller is there, even though it took a LONG time for things to finally advance between them once they did the sparks really started to fly. Miller is a sweet and romantic side to him that he doesn’t show to everyone. Despite acting like a playboy, he does want to settle down and have a family with someone, but he is picky about who. There was a little unexpected drama that hurt Layla and Miller’s relationship and that broke my heart for how long that went on, but once they both came to their senses again everything worked itself out quickly.

Only One Chance was a fun story to read and I loved getting to know more of the Dallas crew. I can’t wait to see what is in store for Manning!!
