REVIEW ➞ Back to Shore by Taylor Danae Colbert

BLURB ➞

When I was sixteen, I was madly in love with Ryder Casey.

He was kind, he was loving, he was everything.

Then he killed my twin brother, the night before our seventeenth birthday.

Accident or not, he crushed me in more ways than one. So I turned him away and never looked back. I haven’t forgotten. And I certainly haven’t forgiven.

Now, I’m sort of a hot mess. I’m in between jobs, essentially homeless, and newly divorced.

But as I try to put the pieces of my life back together, I know that Ryder’s the one that’s missing. I have to find him, and I have to forgive him.

And when I do, I learn that he’s not exactly living the easiest life. He needs someone. He needs me.

Despite everything, I know I should be there for him. But doing that means I’ll have to put our past behind us.

And I’ll have to try my hardest not to fall back in love with the man who broke my heart beyond repair.

But seeing the once-love-of-your-life-turned-worst-enemy is freakin’ exhausting.

ARC REVIEW ➞

Taylor Danae Colbert is a new to me author and I went into this book without reading the blurb and HOLY EMOTIONS! Mila and Ryder’s story is beautiful, emotional, and heartbreaking. I had no idea where this story was going to take me but I loved every single moment of it.

Mila and Ryder’s story is so emotional. These two characters have been through so much, especially Ryder. They have both experienced loss, but now they have a second chance. Can Mila overcome the events of the past and move on with Ryder?

I loved that this story bounces between the past and the present. I love getting those glimpses of Mila and Ryder’s relationship and the start of it, but also the events of that tore them apart for years. Mila is newly divorced, she is looking to heal and that involves confronting Ryder and going back to the place she hasn’t been for years. There is so much that was left unsaid between them. So much pain. So much heartbreak. Despite everything there is still so much chemistry between them. They were each other’s everything for two summers. They were each other’s first loves and that isn’t something you can easily move on from. Ryder, my heart broke for him. Everything that happens with him crushed me. I wasn’t expecting any of what happened.

Back to Shore is an emotional, second chance romance that is a MUST READ!
